THE Penguin is FIVE this year and it doesn’t seem like that long that he was but a chick and Helensburgh Winter Festival just an idea. This year the festival will be another two days of family fun and festivity with something for all ages and purses. The festival will, once again, be centred in Colquhoun Square with a Festive Market offering a wonderful range of gifts and goodies to make your Christmas special and an international menu of street food to tantalise your tastebuds. For the daring and energetic there will be a skating rink which will offer a flock of support penguins for the beginners and very small and there will also be special skating chairs designed for wheelchair users who fancy a sleigh ride. Santa will be in his specially constructed grotto in the Parish Church Hall and Peninsula Trikes will be offering motorbike trike rides around the town. There will be a bouncy castle and a Victorian chair o’plane for the kiddies and some fascinating techy stuff for the grown ups (and the children) provided by the Navy bomb squad. Motorheads will be able to see some full-on horse-power in a display of top of the range classic cars on Sunday while four-legged power will be in evidence with the Ayrshire Reindeer who will also be visiting on the Sunday. So…the Penguin Crew would like to welcome you to join us at Helensburgh Winter Festival 2017 – this year is going to be the best yet!
